Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has revealed that Marcus Rashford told him he was going to score the free-kick that gave them an advantage over Celta Vigo in the semifinal fixture of Europa League.
The Red Devils continued their impressive run in Europe on Thursday night against a resilient Celta side that exhibited the attributes of a complete cup team but they finally fell to a shock defeat from United courtesy of Marcus Rashford’s 67th minute free-kick.
Pogba who returned to the starting eleven for the first time after missing two games, revealed that the 19-year-old told him he was going to score from the free-kick before he did.
The midfielder revealed after the game: ‘He’s been doing great this season and we trust him, On the pitch we don’t look at the age.
‘When he took that free-kick, he told me he was going to score and he put it in so that’s the most important thing.
‘We had a lot of chances, it’s happened a lot of times this season but we have to carry on working hard on it and keep creating chances.’
A place in the final means Manchester United have one feet in the Champions League next season even if they fail to make the top-four spot in the Premier League.
